As with any tragedy the words that usually fall off of everyone's tongue is "How can I help"? It is always difficult to answer this with a direct answer but one that springs to mind is "support our cause". Supporting the JNCL Research fund can come from every conceivable thought from a bake sale to a large corporate donation and from increased awareness through media. As JNCL is a rare disorder, getting research to focus on finding a cure is not the easiest task. However, the JNCL Research Fund is set up to entice new investigators into the field by highlighting key projects and allowing funds to be rapidly released to get them started. This allows the investigators to get the preliminary result so that they can apply to the National Institutes of Health for larger grants to continue the project. So the key to progress is time, money and dedication from the researchers involved in JNCL. Remember....
